Investigation
Five questions to answer before starting an internal investigation
· 5 min read
What is to be investigated? A well-defined question makes it possible to determine when the investigation is complete and what the conclusions actually answer.
Who decides the mandate? The investigator needs a clear assignment from someone who is not personally involved in the event.
Which method will be used? Information gathering, interviews and documentation should be described in advance so the work is traceable.
How are the people involved treated? Objectivity, information and respect for privacy are decisive for trust in the investigation.
What happens afterwards? Conclusions must be linked to decisions, measures and lessons learned – otherwise the work ends with a report.
