Whistleblowing
External intake and investigation of whistleblower reports
Whistleblower legislation requires organisations above a certain size to operate internal reporting channels with impartial handling, acknowledgement within seven days and feedback within three months. Full independence is hard to achieve internally.
Northseq can be the independent party that receives, assesses and where needed investigates reports, protecting the reporter's confidentiality.
When is it needed?
- When the organisation is covered by the channel requirement
- When the existing channel lacks independent handling
- When a report concerns management or key personnel
- When the case requires investigative competence
- When you want to strengthen trust in the channel
How it works
- 01
Intake
The report is received by an independent case handler and acknowledged within seven days.
- 02
Assessment
We assess whether the report is covered by the law and what handling is required.
- 03
Investigation
Where needed we investigate using the same method as our internal investigations.
- 04
Feedback
The reporter receives feedback and the organisation gets decision material.
Protecting the reporter
Identity is protected and access to the case is limited to those who need it. Retaliation is prohibited by law.
We document the handling so the organisation can demonstrate compliance.
A channel that gets used
A channel nobody trusts stays empty. Clear information, a known independent recipient and visible feedback decide whether it is used.
We also support internal communication and training of the functions involved.
